Catastrophic fail with CC3 and edit functions operation

I went to make some changes to a map I have saved and discovered that my edit tools no longer work at all. I can add new things but when I try to erase copy or any other edit function I can't do it. Has this ever happened before? Am I going to have to re-install the program?

This is now fixed after searching on the boards. Go to Tools - Options - Select Method and then click the Dialog or Popup option. That solved the problem for me. I think the solution should be stickied somewhere.
