Help with roof hatching with custom house styles

I followed the instructions from the CC3 Tome of Ultimate Mapping, page 2 97. no hatch.

I have followed Creating house styles, pages 298 - 299 in the tome. No hatch.

I have started from a blank CD3 bitmap B template, as well as the Tiled.fcw from #Symbols\Cities\House Styles. I have reviewed my CD2 Manuals. Help in CD3, and Googled everything I could think of. I obviously am missing some fundamental step, but I can not locate it.

I have even got a copy of the full fast cad manual, although I haven't checked it yet. Not sure if hatching form a custom layer is implemented in Fast cad or not.

If it is necisary, I can send copies of the files I am trying to work with.

I do not see anything saying this only works in vector style templates, but the raw House Style should be set up with the correct defaults.

Right now all I want is all roof surfaces hatched with tiles, fasing correctly down the roof. Once I have mastered my issue than I can get fancier.

Obviously my first post, but I have searched the forums and found no discussion that seemed to address this issue, either by reading through the categories and drilling down or by using search with any variation of roof and hatch.

I have been a middling programmer and Graphics designer as an independent for 20+ years, so I now it is something stupid that I am missing, but I can't suss it out myself.

Thank you to anyone that can try to set me straight.

  • I'll try to help, but I'm not in front of my mapping system at the moment so I'm doing this from memory.

Under the settings button on the Insert Building screen:
    1. Check the roof hatching tick box
    2. Select a House Style from the drop down list that includes Hatching. Not all of them do. Play with it until you find a House Style that works for you.
    3. Click OK

It shouldn't take anything more than this.
