Change Map Dimensions

I created a new drawing, not using a template, I picked 350’ by 350’, with a gray background. After I got ½ way through the Map I realized I mis-counted and the map needs to be 370 by 370, but I can’t figure out how to change that. I also would like to change the background color. I have searched the forums, but I can’t figure out how to change the map dimensions or the background fill style. Is there a way to change these settings?

  • I would probably create a new map, with the good dimensions and background colour, in another instance of the program. Then I would copy the content from the existing map to the new map (using the copy/paste command from the menu, that can work between program instances).

Yes, you can change both, but as Gathar says, the easiest method is really to create a new map and copy the the old parts over using the clipboard. Just open two instances of CC3, one with the new and one with the old map. Then use ctrl-c, ctrl-v to copy the old dungeon into the new map.

For editing the old Map, make sure all layers are thawed, then use the STRETCH command (Edit > Reshape > Stretch) to move the right border 20 units to the right and the top border 20 units up.
Use Change Properties and select by layer BACKGROUND to change the fill style of the background entity.

Ralf, does using the STRETCH command on the border also stretch the mask that surrounds the border? The one that hides things when you draw or place symbols a little past the border. Are they connected?

    Thanks,

Just make sure to select it together with the border and include it in the rectangle to be stretched, and it will be stretched as well.

  • Thanks for answering.

When I copy it copies the border and the background tile. I try to freeze the layers to prevent them from being selected, but it does not seem to work.

When I stretch the map, the background tile does not get stretched. I try to edit the properties of the background, but it has no effect. So I can't get either method to work.

When you copy select only the entities within the border, i.e. select by "Window" make sure not to cross the border with the selection rectangle.

When you stretch, make sure the layer "BACKGROUND" is not frozen, and that you DO include the background rectangle in the stretch window.

So when I do a copy freezing the layers does not work, but when I do a stretch it does work?
