Trimming new symbols

Hi folks,

I've been working a lot on heraldry through CC3, which has been quite enjoyable. I've exported the many shields I've constructed as a symbol set to use as territory markers on a map. Here's the problem--the images are rectangular, and include pieces at the bottom, outside the shield (see example). It's like to trim them so the symbol itself is simply shaped like a shield. Or, failing that, to make the offending bits transparent. Is there a way to do this within CC3, as part of the symbol construction process, or otherwise?

Thanks!

EDIT: Whoops! Graphic was huge. Fixed.

  • CC3 cannot export transparent images. The only way to do this would be to import your images into a graphics program for modification. If you are going to do this, I would turn off effects before exporting from CC3 to make trimming in the graphics program easier.

If you do not own graphics software you might want to check out GIMP. It is a free, open source package that is comparable to photoshop.
