MS Virtual Earth

I downloaded Microsoft Virtual Earth 2.5 off the net yesterday for free. It gave me a good idea of how to make more natural-looking landscapes in CC3, so I thought I would pass along the idea.

Thanks for the tip. Might try it.
How does it rate compared to other products, like google earth?

I was going to watch the "See it in action" video, but it claims I need Silverlight. Trying to install it from the link provided, the installer tells me it couldn't install because I already had a newer version. Seems like MS has a way to go with this Silverlight stuff yet.
  • Google Earth does something I strongly disagree with. They send trucks around to digitally capture the exact layout of private residences. (This would be a dream come true for burglars, stalkers, and perverts.) MS Virtual Earth, on the other hand, makes 3d representations of important public buildings in over 300 cities. Private residences can only be seen from a distance in sattelite photos.

Using MS Virtual Earth, I have visited China's Forbidden City, the Giza Plateau, and Angkor Wat this week. Very cool!
