CC3 Saved / Named Views

Hi Folks,

I'm after a bit of help from the experts about saved / named views (not sure what they're called in CC3).

I have a map of the River Kingdoms / Brevoy for our Pathfinder Kingmaker campaign. As I'm exporting sections of the maps into Realm Works (as jpeg sections), I need to keep the saved views exactly the same size / position.

What is the best way of doing this as I need multiple views (eg The Stolen Lands / Brevoy / Pitax etc)? I have managed to make an extra view, however CC3 crashes constantly when I have this open, but dragged to the side of the screen when sheet effects are turned on. It's now at the point where I can't even open the file. I had to insert the base drawing into another drawing, which meant I have lost the view I was using.

Any help on managing this would be a great help.

Thanks,
Jim.

  • I think I have managed to work the named views out by using view sets from the view menu.

Still getting some crashing when sheet effects are turned on, but I'm working around that.

Admittedly, I haven't used multiple views in ages, as CC3 tends to redraw too slowly with sheet effects on to make this very useful. This will become more urgent with CC3+ again I guess, so I'll take a good look what's going on here.

  • I am looking for a possibility to save a specific set of viewing. I have a map with some kind of optional parts. Problem is that these optional parts are on several sheets and layers. If I want to produce the two different options of the map I have to adjust sheets and layers manually.

As far as I got it, the named window options only stores the size and position of the specific view. What I want is saving the layer properties. So I can quickly change between the "regular time" view and the "market time" view of my map.
    Any idea? Is this impossible?

You can use a hotspot (Tools -> Macro -> Make Hotspot) in your map with a macro command to show/hide the relevant sheets and layers. (Note that if your hotspot doesn't retain the macro command when you make it, you can use numeric edit on the hotspot and reenter the command. This will make it stick)

The commands to show/hide sheets and layers are: SHOWSHT, HIDESHT, SHOW and HIDE.
