too much space outside map border after import
I am starting to relearn the program again after some time off, starting from scratch, and in the tutorials when making a local map from importing data from a larger map, after i get all of the information outside the borders removed, but when i click the zoom extents, it still moves out with the local map a small section of the screen, with blank areas around it to some distance. i am assuming there is still something lurking somewhere on the map, or in a setting. i can zoom in on it okay and if i leave it on that view, its fine, just concerned about waste more than anything else or unneeded clutter.
any suggestions?

Using the erase, draw a rectangle or square from outside to just next to the map border. Right click, select do it.
Zoom extents.
See if it moves into the map. If not, zoom out and do it for the other 3 sides of the map.
Zoom extents again, that should have fixed it.
I used to do this all the time on my maps.
I tend to zoom way out, so my map is very small in the middle of the editing area, then do the above.
ah well, something to tinker with when i get further along in my relearning the program.

You'll need to temporarily unfreeze the Template layer to get rid of them.
