Concetron - my first CD3 map
Hi all,
I have been eagerly awaiting the release of City Designer 3. I bought and downloaded the software last week and I have been working on my first EVER city map. What a great piece of software this is :-)
The map isn't finished yet. I still need to add some more farms, fishing villages and labeling. Oh, it's supposed to show the city of Concetron, the capital of the fantasy world I am creating.
(I was trying to upload a larger version, first 1,400kb and then 600kb but I got an error, so I had to downsize this map a lot).

We currently have some problems uploading images larger than 800 pixels wide here (There is a problem with the resize system, which kicks in for maps wider than 800)
Your map looks very nice but it would have been easier to see if it was a bit bigger. If you upload your fcw file, everyone with CD3 can download it and see it natively in CC3 (Unless you have used custom symbols and fill styles). You can also upload a larger version to imageshack or similar, and link it from here.
Btw: I edited your post to put it in the "Show and Tell" category.
The FCW file is over 4MB large. I don't know if I can upload that? There's also a few custom made fill styles in it I think.
Oh, and it's pretty damn slow on my computer now (which is a few years old). I can't even save it from CD3 to a BMP or JPG without the software crashing. That's why I made multiple screenshots in CD3 and then pasted them together in a 1500x1500 image in Paint Shop Pro :P
Need to upgrade...
If you have trouble uploading to mediafire.com, add http://upload.mediafire.com/* to the trusted zone of your security software.
I am at work right now and planning to do some more work on the map tonight. Then I'll see if I can upload the map somewhere or take you up on your offer.
Attached to this post is the smaller version.

The new version of the city looks much smaller than the old one. Did you decide it was to large? In any case, I think the new version looks nicer, more natural.
That's one sweet map, sir. My hat is off to you.
I especially like that "marina" effect with the water! Something I will try to duplicate in the future.
How do yo make the elevations? Is that a line with blurring or shadowning to give it a optical illusion?
