Overwritten, but unmodified CC3 file?

Ok, so I'm prepping for a VTT game last Sunday (3/16) and I decide that I need to have a random map, just in case. I start up cc3 and start a DD3 map with SS2 Dungeon A metric, 60 x 60 and choose the fill style to be Dirt and Grass, and get ready for some symbol placement ...
Then it occurs to me, "I thought I had created some random maps a couple of weeks ago?"
I go to my maps exported maps directory, and sure enough there is a RandomTrees.jpg, that is ready for me to use. Except, I'd like to move some of the trees around, etc. I go to my cc3 folder and open up RandomTrees.fcw, and I'm staring at a blank map! Except for a Dirt and Grass background!
Now the Created,Modified,Accessed dates on the file are all the same (3/2), the same as the jpg export. Makes sense because I made the map, and then exported it to jpg.
I've made sure that I am showing all sheets and layers. I've tried hiding the background with no luck. Background sheet only has 6 entities on it. I've tried hiding every sheet one at a time -nothing.
When I do a info/list/all it only comes up with 23 entities!
If I accidentally saved over this file, wouldn't the modified date have changed?

If so, then it would explain the saved, blank map (done when you first created the map in CC3) and the saved JPG. They'd both have the same date stamp, even though the FCW is blank.

Since there don't seem to be any other scenarios, I guess your explanation is the only possible one.
