Learning Questions

I've had the basic programs and never really did anything with them. Recently, some of my buddies wanted to start up a Roll20 campaign, so I've bought some additional sets and seriously taken to learning the program but have run into some things that seem to me like they shouldn't quite be that way, but I can't fix them. I've also purchased the ToUM, and in a couple of cases I can't tell if the answer is there or not, so I might just need clarification.

The first item is selecting floor types. I'm trying out a John Roberts dungeon, but the module that I am converting to a CC3 map (well, a DD3 map I suppose) has a room that has some special tiling in it. So I remembered that the SS2A style had some floors that were tiled, but when I go to select those from the flooring drop down menu, all the previews are just this quasi-flesh tone, and that holds if I use them to lay down an area on my map. It's also the same for several other menu selections, like the SS2B, Dungeon DD3 Color and CC3 dungeon (and maybe others - I didn't check every possible drop down selection). But other styles show as normal in the preview, and lay down normally, such as Dungeon SS2 Handdrawn.

Is this normal, or did I mess up something on the install? I've purchased several programs piecemeal over the past couple weeks, and didn't learn about the suggested install process until after I had already installed them (and not in the order specified).

The other thing is how to add symbol sets to a master filter? All the master filters I can load seem clogged with old DD pro symbols that I wouldn't use on a DD3 map, because they look jarringly different. But the Symbol Set 2, and some of the annual symbol sets, aren't included. Is it as easy as increasing the number of filters to use, and then typing symbol set names in the (now un-grayed out) lines? I want to have all the symbols I've purchased available as choices when making maps.
