Matching symbol scale to existing catalouge

As an experiment I am modifying an existing symbol. The modification is very simple and has already been done. I have been through the Mr. Sweeney's video for creating a custom cataloge, however for ease of use and since the catalouge already exists I am going to be adding it there. My question is this:

Where do I find out the size of the PNGs in the current catalouge? I want to match the size of the modified symbol to be the same scale as the existing ones. Other than that the import and everything else is fine. I am just looking to streamline this process by starting with existing symbols before I go, with my meager art skills and create an original symbol.

Thank you for your time,
Blather

I should also inquire as to the "crispness" the symbol. In the above question I have created a larger group of trees from an existing symbol. I modified the symbol by importing it into GIMP and then copying the symbol to form the larger clump. All looks well until I zoom in on the symbol next to the original when placed on a map in CC3. The modified file is saved as a .PNG as I believe that is the appropriate format and the background transparency is intact. The original is much crisper in its detail; while min new one looks a bit pixelated. At a full zoom out all looks fine, but I would like to keep the level of detail as the original. This may be a bit more of a graphics question, but I wanted to include this as well.

    Thanks for your time,

You can find the size of the PNG by editing the symbol from the Symbol Manager and using LIST on the bitmap entity. It shows you the pixel size as well as the dimensions of the bitmap in CC3 units. Note that the "Size" property in the list shows you the extents from the origin point. Therefore the actual size is double that. Also, the Pixels property use a x:y format, while the Size property is y:x (confusing, I know).

About the crispness, did you use the VH version of the PNG? It looks like you may have used the lower resolution (HI) for your modification? If that's not the case, try setting a fixed bitmap quality of Very High under the Display Speed dialog (the hourglass button).

Still a bit confused on finding the symbol size, but I will get there. Still so much to learn. ON the other part though I did use the HI and not the VH version. Thanks for the help.
