Disappearing Multipoly Explosion

I have several multipolies I would like explode, work with and recombine. However, when I explode them all the elements of the multipoly simply cease to exist. Can anyone tell me how to avoid this?

Unless I am mistaken, when you explode a multiploly, the individual items "return" to their original sheet & layer, so they may end up getting hidden beneath other objects. Ypu may need to make sure that all your sheets and layers are visible and thawed, and try to look for the elements under other objects.

Also, fill styles disappear, leaving only the lines that make up the multipoly, so they can be difficult to spot.
  • I changed the color of the multipolies to cyan, thawed and unhid all layers and was able to locate them. I moved them back to the layer I wanted them on and used line to path to turn them into 2D Polygons (I read sonewhere long ago that those are more efficient than multipolies). They're also not cyan any more.

    Thanks!
