problems ecporting to png CC3 & Windows 7

Hi

When trying to export a map to png format, or indeed any other format, I am finding that CC3 simply stops responding and eventually just craps out, if the quality of the export requires more than 3 passes.

I am running CC3 on Windows 7 with 8Gb of RAM

Any suggestions?

Mel

  • What export settings are you trying to use?

Abti-alias and quality both set to 75%. However, I found a suggestion to print to pdf in the support pages. that is working, and from PDF I can take it into photoshop and play with it there. A reasonable work around!

CC3 always stops responding during export, just leaving it alone often works (although the progress bar stops updating when it stops responding, so it is often difficult to tell if it is still working, or just plain hung).

You'll wish to reduce that anti-alias value though. To be able to do anti-alias, CC3 must export a larger image to use when computing the anti-aliasing, and with an anti-aliasing of 75%, it means that CC3 must generate an image 16 times larger than your requested export size to accommodate this. I prefer to never go above 25% antialias, which results in an image 1.78 times as large being generated. Reducing the antialias further allows for a larger final image to be possible.
  • ya, 75% is a bit much on the anti-alias. But it will work on a windows 7 machine. Just tested an export at 2000x2000 pixels, sheet effects turned on, and 75% anti-alias. 16 passes. No idea how long it took because I switched windows and worked on something else, but it did finish. No more than an hour, since I think that's how long I waited before checking on it.
