Grid clarification question
I have been working my way through the Tome of Ultimate Mapping and specifically working on a dungeon map I have been creating.
It was time to create a grid for my map and because I only wanted the dungeon areas of my map to show the grid and not the background I set upon doing as described Tome.
I copied the floor (background 2) of my map and then used the Change Properties to Layer, Color, fill style and sheet to copy it to my grid sheet. I wasn't happy with the color.
No matter how I did it the color changes had no effect. If square grid is a fill style should color changes have no effect as it wouldn't on say a bitmap fill.
Does this make sense?
Also note that I tried multipoly'ing the dungeon floors with Sheet, layer, color and fill properly setup for the grid and the result still didn't change color.
I tried the overlay method and was able to create the grid in any color I chose.
This had the intended look because I had already created a floor mask on its own sheet which covered the overlayed background on the grid sheet.
Any insight on whether this is right or not or whether I am doing something wrong would be appreciated.

Then select change color, from the change properties button, select all of the grid by drawing a square around it larger than the grid with the mouse pointer.
Start at one corner, drag the mouse pointer to the opposite side, let go the mouse button.
Right click, select 'Do it' from the menu.
Select the color number or color.
Click okay.
I tried the Chapel Medina map and yes I can easily change it there.
Please try the same using the Jon Roberts Dungeon style.
One thing I notice is the grid fill is different in the Medina map it is 433 and in the Jon Roberts it is 727.
I wonder if there is a problem with that fill.
Could you perform a LIST command on the grid and check the fill style please?
You can also use the right-click Change Properties -> Change Fill Style tool and set it to Solid.
As have already been mentioned by JdR, it is important that you are not using bitmap based fills, but the grid fill I used in the Tome (which is also available in the Jon Roberts Dungeon maps) are based on vector symbols.
If you wish, you can attach your map here (in a private comment to me if you prefer) and I can check it out myself.

I will be sending a copy of my map to Monsen so he can tell me what I am doing wrong.
Thanks Dogtag, yes using hatching instead was a very neat solution (for square grids anyway).
I didn't create the fills they were already there and my assumption is that they were part of the Jon Roberts style which my dungeon is largely based on. You confirmed earlier that you were able to change the colors using Jon Roberts style maps so I am left wondering where in the world did those fills come from?
In any case thanks for your help.
Everything is working now.
Thanks for the help all !!
I am going to make the varicolor requirement clear in the Tome, it may help people later.
