Basic Multipoly

I have been trying to get multipoly to work for a while now and have crawled through every thread on here I could find looking for any hint and nothing suggested seems to work for me.

I have a basic landmass, I draw another landmass on top of it.
I select multipoly tool. Then try and select my landmass. When I click do it, the entire landmass just disappears.

Any advice?

When selecting landmasses drawn with the drawing tool, make sure you do not select the black outline as well. If you include this in the multipoly, you end up multipolying two entities of the same size and position, which will result in nothing left. Read the chapter on editing in the manual if you need hints and tips for how to avoid selecting the outline at the same time as the landmass.
