Prehistoric/Western symbols?
Howdy, a brand new user to CC3 and this setup in general, but already having lots of fun.
But I'm curious about some symbols that are kind of off the beaten path. The maps I'm working on are either Wild West or Prehistoric in nature, whereas most people do fantasy, which is fine.
I'm just wondering though, anyone know where I could find sources for Old West type buildings? Like log cabins, saloons, sheriff offices, train stations, etc, or prehistoric clubmosses, cycads, palms or fossil type symbols?
Or better yet, if anyone wants to work on that kind of thing. I typically have the artistic skill of a four year old with a bunch of dull crayons, but I've got a mass of source material if anyone wants to take a crack at it.
Anyway, hope this sparks some interest at least! :)

Though not directly related to your question, there's another Forum topic on Roman & Egyptian symbols which has some relevant general advice applicable here too, at:

The Profantasy Map & Library Catalog has some potentially prehistoric items you might find helpful, for example:

Roger Nicholls' Tropical Island Catalog, which includes some top-down palm trees;

one of the 2003 Symbol Challenge sets that includes an assortment of sea shells, a couple of which are ammonite-like, and;

another of the Symbol Challenge 2003 collections, which has drawings of some prehistoric animals, such as a flightless giant bird and sabre-tooth tiger, etc.
There's also this topic on the Forum, which includes various dinosaurs:

although it's only recently resurfaced, and seems not to have been updated for most of this year, as a (hopefully still) WIP.
It may be worthwhile checking out things like the free Dingbat-style fonts too, in case some of those could be pressed into service as map symbols, though it may depend on exactly how detailed you need things to be, and in what style.
