What is that tan "road" that connects to the eastern side of the island in the lake?
Also, if I have any criticism at all, I would suggest maybe adding more of a blur or fade to the darker blue in the river/lake. I love the stylized, individual tree symbols.
This is really a gorgeous map. It reminds me of some of the cities Clercon's done. Did you use a particular mapping style (a la Cartographer's Annual)? I presume you did some post-work in Photoshop or some other paint program? The result is amazing. I'd love to know the history/story of the city and some of the buildings and walls within it.
That is a really great map! I like the fortress in the middle of the sea. To improve the map even more I would try to change size of the houses a bit more now they are a bit too regular, also it looks like the towers are below the walls. But it is a great map. Good work!
in the south western portion of the main city there is a building overlapping two other buildings.
the lake in the southwestern corner with the Forgemonde label has buildings showing through from underneath. maybe deleting those buildings would help?
I do like the garden/farmland though. was that a macro?
Must be a rich city, though, to build walls around the fields and so much free space...
Maybe it´s a kind of city made by a goverment with expansion in mind.
This happened in Europe, actually the city where i was born (Ferrol, Spain) had such situation. Not to mention that the city ended up surpassing the walls, which unfortunatly were demolished around 50 years ago

btw : clicking on the map points to photobucket.com, not to your map, so I always end on my account instead).

Notice the walls are drawn over the towers
without him this map would not be.
