more readable Traveller sector map ?

I've been exporting the Sector maps as png at 900x1200 pixels. They just look blury at the planet name level.

I'm looking for suggestions for export size that will make these sector maps readable on my web site. i don't have sizes of the png in my img src markup.

The sub-sector maps work fine.

Exporting images at a high enough resolution to make the relatively small text of the planets visible will quickly create impractically large images. Wouldn't it be better to just refer the user to the subsector page for full readability (Use an image map so users can click on the sub-sector in the image to go directly to it).

I thought about that and I do have sub-sector maps on the site. I'm not sure how to do image map links like that though.

I was thinking the same thing (image maps). I would also add a suggestion that you link to the legend(s) on the right-hand-side of the sector map the same way you would the individual sub-sector maps.

If your web-authoring software doesn't have a built-in image map editor, there are some nice, free online tools you can use to create image maps. Kinda of neat actually. Here are two you can check out right away, but a Google search may yield others as well.

There are probably off-line freeware programs that'll do image maps too.

I looked around several 'how to' sites and they mention that Paint shows coordinates. So now I just have to look over the web pages that show how to take the coordinates, same for all the sector maps as they are all the same size, and use html to link to the sub-sector maps.

I used the w3 site for info. I cannot find anything wrong... not working and I'm about to fall asleep sitting here, so its off to sleep.

Here's a test I did for the Gran-Dal Arm, Column B, Sector 1 map. I hope you don't mind. It appears to work for me. If you want, compare the coordinates/HTML for that page with the ones in yours and figure out the difference. If you're anything like me, you may have forgotten a closing tag (or worse, just a slash). That happens to me all the time when I write this stuff by hand.

You might look http://www.silveragesoftware.com/archive.php there for some Silver Ages software. I'm using the image mapper. The output has to be modified, but its faster than Paint. Free as well.
