Help trimming to borders. Newbie!

Could someone help me with one of my first maps? I am trying to trim the excess river and trees to not be outside the border. Other templates I have used automatically would stop outside the border, but I didn't apparently have that option on for this map.

Help! Please teach me!

Most maps does this by using a white polygon just outside the map border. Place this on one of the last sheets in the list, and it will serve to cover up anything outside the map border.

The alternate way is to use cuts, breaks and node edits to actually cut out the parts extending beyond the border, but this is usually far more work, and can't be done with raster symbols anyway.
  • Thank you, Monsen. That worked for now, however I would love to know how to use the cuts, breaks and nodes. Can you point me to a good tutorial?

The Editing chapter in the manual (Grab the updated one from your registration page if you haven't done so previously) covers most of this. The Editing chapter in the Tome of Ultimate Mapping goes a bit more in depth.
