Simple drawing question

I have had CC for years, but the steep learning curve has always kept me from using the program. For example. I want to place a circle on my overland map to indicate a point of interest (city). I want the circle to be 5 miles in diameter and solid red. I can get the circle in solid black, but the only way I can get the circle to be red is to go back and edit the properties. Is there someway to draw the circle so that it is solid red initialy?

  • Select the color first, then draw the circle.

And the easiest way to do that is to click the Color Indicator (the colored square) in the Status Bar. By default, the Status Bar is along the top of the screen, beneath the Menu Bar.

So, click the Color Indicator and choose a color, then draw your circle.

    Hope that helps,

  • I have done that and it makes no difference. After further exploration, I have discovered that what I see is what ever is selected in the Fill Style Properties box. The selected color in the Color Indicator box seems to have no effect on the drawn circle.

This is correct to a certain degree. An entity is always filled with the currently selected fill style. However, the color do apply, AS LONG AS you have selected a fill style that can use a color. These are mainly the fill styles on the Brush Pattern tab of the fill style dialog. Most commonly, you would use the Solid fill style from here to get a solid filled entity in the selected color.
  • Hey everyone,

New to this forum. Just wanted to ask, is it possible to use a world i drew personally, and uploading it to the FRACTICAL TERRAIN program and use that for future maps? Is it even possible?

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

It is possible to import a pre-drawn map into FT3. You need to either have an image file where each color in the image can be mapped to a certain altitude, or a 8-bit greyscale image (black=water, white=land), which can then be processed by FT. Note that by doing this you do lose FT3's random generation capabilities, and a world imported this way generally does not look as natural as one generated in FT.

For the future, please start a new discussion when you wish to ask questions that does not related to the current thread.
