Starship Exteriors with Cosmographer 3?

I'm not an artist by any stretch of the imagination, but I feel like ProFantasy's software can help me produce something that might pass as artistic anyway. As I love making deck plans with Cosmographer, I was wondering if anyone has used that to make *exterior* views of their ships. Has anyone tried this? Can anyone suggest some ideas for making that work?
I'd love to make things closer to the work here:

But, this guy uses MS Paint, and other user-hostile software and, well, when I suggested that he used something like CC3 or Cosmographer, he seemed to get a little miffed.
Anyway, I'd appreciate hearing any thoughts on this!

My Traveller site Lower deck of the Gazelle class on the front page. Fuel tanks, exterior, and decks done using the bitmap fills from those issues.
I'm a terrible drawer, but I may have to try and use CC3 with Cosmographer to see if I can't draw an exterior. One of these days, when work lets up.
Thanks!

So, how did you do it? Did you just add a layer for the outer hull?
