Ideas for Flaming Pools

So I want to create a small pool with flames leaping from it's surface and I'm not coming up with anything that is that impressive.
So has anyody got any cool ideas, suggestions or examples?

    Have you looked at the cave symbols ? Some of them are holes in the ground with some mineral buildup. You could put one or more of those in the pool and have flames coming out of them.

    When you say "pool," do you mean a pool of non-lava liquid, like water or oil? I take it you're looking for actual flame and not just a red, glowing interior, correct?

    Hrm. Gonna hafta noodle that.

    Yeah, thats a tricky one...and I don't have any specific advice on that unfortunately

    I would only add that essentially your trying to do an elevation trick - and in that regard i've had some success by doing an black glow (set to inner) and then an edge fade inner effect (with a width slightly smaller than the glow size). You could try adding those two effects to the "leaping flames" and seeing if that tricks the eye into thinking that they are leaping.

    I've found a large collection of fire symbols in the Dundjinni forum:

    Use the Search option and check for flame, fire and explosion. A sample is attached. This one might not be the style you're seeking, but there are many differnt flame and fire styles. For the lava background, the forum also has a good collection of lava textures (fill patterns).
