CC3 won't print

I am trying to print to anything, printer, pdf ANYTHING! Nothing works. The window just closes, no file location popups, nothing. I have trrid saving to file, printing regularly, changing setting, using default settings everything. At this point any respond from the app at all would be awesome!

I bought all this software (Every single one) because I thought it would really be fun to play with, but so far I have had nothing but trouble and I want to just send the disks through the shredder. I have a game this weekend and nothing to give them for a map. I should have just stuck to photoshop, at least it works.

  • I just bought CC3 yesterday, and DD3 today.

I hadn't tried to print anything, but thought I would since you're having problems.

I'm running on Windows 7 Enterprise.

    Printed just fine for me.

Here's a couple things you should try.

    1. Are you able to print from Notepad?
    2. Reboot the computer.

If that doesn't work, yup, then it's time to try Tech Support.

  • Make sure you have up to date printer drivers and try printing from something other than CC3.

Also, make sure you aren't printing to file.
  • Ya know, I just had something similar happen.

I told CC3 to print, and the printer gave me a blank sheet.

Well, it seems for some reason, I had chosen 'COMMON sheet only (old cc2 drawing)'

As soon as I selected something else, I got my map printed.

I sure hope this helps the OP.

Let us know, we want to know please!

  • I just don't understand. You ask a question, we try to answer, or get more information.

    You never come back?

Anyways, from this non-answer, I'll provide closure so we can all sleep at night.

Thanks for all your wonderful help.

Turns out that it was a combination of everything that you guys posted.

My problem has been solved, you're all the greatest!

    Thanks again for your help.

Well my problem is a map produced can only save in FCW format and causes a crash when attempting to print and will crash when attempting to save in a format other then FCW.

I have attached the file in case anyone can find anything wrong with it. The map was based on the Midgard World one from Annual 76. CC3 is getting more and more frustrating. At the rate atwhich files are becomming unprintable and unsavable in any format it won't be long before I totaly abanson this program.
  • If something doesn't print, I don't see how it is CC3. I have had printing issues, but it turned out to be my cable, or Windows.

Well I've transferred the file to a different machine. When loaded on this you get the Green Screen effect mentioned in other threads followedd by a white screen if you try to do anything.
The files will also not save in any other format than fcw so I cannot for example save it as a bmp and then print that. The map is effectively trapped on the computer I drew it on. So I don't know what is going on.
When I did try to print the print drivers seemed fine and print preview worked fine but then crashed just after print was pressed.
Oh yes, other programs print normally so it is just CC3 that has the problem on my machines.

Seems to be a problem with the map. I recommend you contact ProFantasy Tech Support
  • Just contacted tech support about this. Now waiting to see if the map can be salvaged.

  • Ralf suggested that there was a polyglon problem with the export from FT3 from which this map was derived. I have not tried altering the FT3 setting yet. But I did find if I replaced the bitmap fills with solid fills that the map would print and if the resolution was not too high I could also save in jpg format. So here it is. The map basically used the Midgard style with the exception of a couple of bitmap fills having to be removed as mentioned.

Even with the bitmap fills replaced, it looks pretty darn good! I especially like the mountains. You have a really good eye for placing them. They look fantastic.

  • Thanks Dogtag, next thing to do would be to smooth the outlines for forests etc to get rid of the straight lines.
  • Very good map! I especially like how you did the escarpment east to the desert of Tarshe.

Good call, JDR. I just now noticed the waterfall there. That's a neat touch!

  • Still a couple of rivers that need some work too but it is coming along nicely. I am pretty pleased with it so far.
