  I once did the drawing below, based on the Santa Costanza Tomb in Roma.
  I used Perspective Pro to get the shapes at floor level but didn't use the extrude function much because of the cutaway.
  
  Isometric, as it's name implies, keeps equal lengths in the 3 main directions: length, width and height. It means that you can draw the elevations with their given heights. It's long and painstaking though...
  And a cathedral... Wow...

  Those are, indeed, incredibly impressive! How much time do those sorts of things eat up? I imagine it takes a lot of work and a lot of time!
