Lorelei, it is difficult because as you said, you are using symbols and fills that I don't have. However I have a couple things for you to try.
You have used a solid black as a mask. Black is one of those colors that is in many symbols and fills and often causes odd effects when used over or under fills and symbols. Try changing the color to the darkest grey, which I believe is color #240.
If that doesn't solve it, try changing the fill to the Bitmap Fill of Solid90 (or the one that looks best to you).
I suspect that it is the black that's causing the triangle glitch and the edge fade is just making that glitch look like a hole. Let me know if anything changes. Here's hoping!
