Difficulties with the CA46 Castle Walls

Been experimenting with this style and it doesn't do what I want it to do :-)

Below there is the shape I drew.
Apart from the fact I had troubles getting all the openings at the right place (lots of use of the Break command).
Now when I use the Line to path commad followed by the path to poly command I get a really weird result.
Any advice is welcome.

  • Detach and reattach the corner lines at each point. Often, it looks like they're connected but there not at the the "molecular level." :)
  • OK. The problem comes from the arc tool. Somehow it doesn't break the line it's attached to like it should do and like I thought it did (yes, I made tests before)
Logically, you shouldn't have to break the line and in fact the solution (till I find time to edit the code) would be to trim the inside line to the endpoints of the arc because the outside lines are created as intented, but you didn't see them because the unshorten mid part was covering it.

About placing the doors, the tool reacts to the modifier (ie endpoint, midpoint, center...). To place the doors like you did, you just have to use the midpoint modifier (or F3) on a side of the wall.

Now when you mix arcs and lines, the best is to make a multipoly rather than the line to path method. The drawback is that you can not node edit a multipoly.

    Attached the corrected file.

    Sorry for the trouble...

    Thanks JdR.

Will further experiment with this style and as with most annuals, once you get the hang of it life gets easier.
  • You're welcome :)

I think I found the trouble with the arcs. I designed them as angle towers, linking two consecutive walls, never thought to add the case where and arc is made out of a single wall as you did. My mistake, but really don't know if and when I could add this, sorry again.
