CC3 Fill ... separate outlines ... new inner aera

Hello all,

first I do apologize I am not a native English speaker. After several years I started again with my hobby Fantasy Roleplay Game and I am in process to prepare a campaign, therefore I need maps :) - so I bought CC3 (World Mapper Bundle). I am new in CC3 and I like this tool, because I do not have any skills in digital painting of maps with photoshop etc. - and now I just start to improve my skills in use of CC3 :-)

But I am sorry, I have a problem here and I hope, that you will be able to help me. As I know, CC3 offers Landmass tool and if I use this tool, I create an object with 2 entities. I see on my map the outline and I see the inner aera. At the moment I tried out to divide these object into their own entities and this works fine with these steps (shown here in Topic http://forum.profantasy.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=1788&page=1#Item_0). After these steps I do have 2 own entities and both entities are able to be moved separately and so on.

Now I tried to fill the "old outline/ contour" - as I think old outline were changed in line via "Explode" command and than transformed with "Path to Line" to a new Polygon and than with "Polygon / Shaded Polygon" I am able to fill (in color black). So I have now a new polygon with filled inner aera. But I lost the outline. To set outline again, I used "Outline" - but than the size of polygon changes, new outline is added to existing size.

Is there a function in CC3 that I can fill inner aera in my "old outline/ contour" without loosing my existing outline? Like a fill bucket tool in other applications? Or is there no chance to realize this in CC3?

Please let me know.

Thank you

Best regards

HS

Not totally sure what you are trying to do here. Using the default landmass tool already gives you two entities which you can use separately. Why would you need to explode one and make it back into a polygon? It is a polygon already.

To separate the two entities you only need to select one independent of the other - you can do that by modifying your selection. E.g. click the Move command, the select both entities by clicking on the edge of the landmass. Then right-click, choose Combine > AND, right-click, more > Fill Style, right-lick, choose fill style Hollow.

You should now only have the outline selected which you can move around.

You cannot have en entity that is both filled and has a wide outline (if that's what you're trying to do). That's why landmasses are usually made up out of two entities (the background fill and the outline).

If you use Outline on an entity the size of your polygon should not change, as only a zero-width outline is added.

Perhaps it would be easier to understand if you posted your map.
