Expanding map borders

I have a main campaign map that I am using for a current RPG campaign. Due to unforseen circumstances I now need to expand one of the borders of the map to include a series of islands that is only slightly shown on the very edge. Is there an easy way to expand the borders of my map? I want to keep the scale the same just reveal a new area.

also ideally I would like to expand the border in just the one direction that is needed so that I dont have to go around and detail new space all the way around the entire fairly large map

Couldn't you just follow the directions for making a local region of a map but choose a slightly wider version? i.e. create a new map slightly larger and copy the old map into it?

You can use the STRETCH command for this (Edit > Reshape > Stretch). Just make sure to show and thaw all layers, then do the Stretch, select everything and encompass the complete map edge you're trying to expand in the stretch window. I usually find it helpful to activate a large scale grid to make sure I get the map exactly as large as I want it.

I accidentally deleted the map boarder around it... anyone know how to draw a new one?

The easiest method would probably be to create a new map in the same style, with the size of your current map, then use the clipboard (ctrl-c, ctrl-v) to copy the Map Border into your current map.
