Side-view map of Moria?

Hi folks.

I am looking into running a Middle-earth based RPG session with my friends and of course I'd like it to take place in the most popular dungeon/cavern in the realm. :)

What I wanted to ask is this...

1. Is there a side view map of Moria made with Profantasy tools? I could have sworn I saw one before.

The other thing is that the map doesn't have to be very detailed, just showing the various levels/deeps and the exits on each side of the mountain. I won't be using the map for the player's but for myself to record notes and data such as checking off an area when I have finished designing it for my players.

2. If it is possible and not too complex, is there a way to make side-view maps of something like Moria? Again it wouldn't have to be too detailed, so I'd be happy to try and design a map for myself, but I'm not sure if easily designing such a map is possible. Unfortunately I'm not a mapping/drawing expert so if its a difficult process I'd probably fail. LOL I'd still give it a try I guess. :)

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,
John

  • If I remember correctly, the only map I've ever seen that shows a side-view perspective of Moria (levels, deeps, exits) was one published in ICE's MERP Moria module many years ago. However, I've tried a quick Google image search and can't find it, so maybe my brain is making this up! It wasn't very detailed at all, just a small map at the foot of one of the pages (I think).

Is that the one you're maybe thinking of?

    Michael,

Thanks for the response. I actually have that book and took a look. The image is there, so that may have been the one I was thinking of. Still, I'd love to be able to design one myself. I'd make it slightly bigger so I could add notes. I wonder how hard it would be to design a similar side view map through DD3 or such?

    Thanks,
    John
