I wouldn't worry to much about terrain. Maybe dark geen spots where the bigger forests are. or a lighther shade of green for vast plains and grasslands. At a full world scale only the really big areas stand out. Or maybe white if there a big areas covered in ice.
And I 2nd abomiecoalitions suggestion for a dark blue for the water.
This looks great, the black background is something you don't see very often but it works great on this map. The rivers stand out a lot more than on the previous version with blue seas.
I wouldn't bother with any futher terrain types. Instead you could add political borders and some dots where the main cities are located.

I maybe put also ice on the map, but maybe not. I also pretend to show one big "desolate" area. About the cities I don know... Even if I put only the capitals of each country it would be something next to 80- 100 cities to show as there are +- 15 regions and no less tham 5 countrys on each of them.
I finished my master so I have time agian to mapping. Here is a small update. I put ice regions. What you guys think? I did not come with a way to mark the mountains as "frozen", but I think that I liked the way it is now.
Ok, ice is out. Here I almost finished deserts and big desolated areas. I also did more work with rivers and forests, but the big update are the mocean currents. It was a huge work, but I liked the result. Please, tell me what you guys think.
There's something really cool about the overall aesthetic of this map with the ocean currents. And overall, this map is very original (or at least I've never seen one that had this look to it).
I'm curious how it would look with a slight transparency on the current lines (I know they already fade towards the arrow)...speaking of which, how did you achieve that effect?
Good suggestion Anomiecoalition. The arrows was easy to do, I just used the command WARROWD. I did trryed to made the currents consistent with cold / hot zones and with the corriolis effect. I also tryed to conect one with the other in the major part.
This map gets every time more fantastic! Sometimes I make a copy of the polygons instead of using the trace command, then I edit the copies carefully placed on a single WORK sheet, all other sheets hidden. Explode them to remove unwanterd parts, make polygons again. When done, I move them back to the sheet they belong to. Granted, you still have a lot of work to do...
I agree with Joachim, this map keeps getting better with each addition. Beautiful!!!
There is one thing that bothers me a bit. I like the ocean currents very much, but they distract my eye away from the continents. If they are on their own sheet, you might try giving them a slight transparency, or maybe just make them a light grey color so that they can be seen, but are no so prominent.

I have tryed transparence and it did not worked well. I will give a try to grey and see how it tunrs out. Thank you.

Yes, I have . When doing the borders I am also puting more details or enhancing the rivers, vegetaion, ect. So it is a slow work.
The borders reallly add to the map. The white border is a bit unclear I think. Btw if you're doing borders, lay down all the borders first and decide on the colors after, this saves a lot of time.

I think Ice would fit fine without cluttering up what you have here (and you've already put deserts in, so it makes sense).
And if you have that many cities and countries, I wouldn't show that either. I think you just lay out the regional borders
I have a pre-WWII earth globe that uses the black sea and white text so this is a very classic style. Wonderful!

Lets see if I can finish the vegetation today.
Do you guys think is a good idea to draw the borders of the cultural regions? If so, what metod you would indicate?
Small update. I finished ocean currents and deserts. I also put some more rivers and vegetation.
But really like the currents.
Also thx for sharing the WARROWD command. I am going to use that one for a map I have in my mind.
What is left to do? Propably only show the divisions of the regions, but even it may be too much. It has already a lot of information. Suggestions?
