FT3 will not import MDR.

This is a question for Joe.

I've followed the directions for importing an MDR from Wilbur into FT as outlined in your "there and back again" tutorial http://www.ridgenet.net/~jslayton/ThereandBackAgain/index.html

The same MDR will import into FT Pro with no issue however using the same settings FT3 just creates a blank map. Am I missing something, is FT3 no longer compatible with MDR files created in Wilbur? I have the most recent versions of Wilbur and FT3 and the most recent version of FT3's predecessor FT Pro.

When importing your MDR, make sure that the top and bottom edges are consistent (that is, that the top value is more than the bottom value). I think there was a switch in FT3 that did something like that. I know there was an export problem with the 64-bit Wilbur version that caused bad MDR files to be generated, but that was a while back. Looking at the bug log, there are a number of reports from late 2011 with MDR import problems that should have been fixed in version 3.0.11.

What FT3 version are you running (use Help>>About to get the number)?
  • I'm using 3.09, I will find the patch in the registration area and see if this fixes my problem.

I'm following the "there and back again instructions" to the letter and it still works with FT pro so perhaps the patch will fix it with FT3. I will post again tomorrow if it does not work.

It works with the one that I'm using also, but I'm not running one of the publicly-available ones...

If the problem persists, contact tech support and they should be able to get you an update that resolves the issue.
  • It worked perfectly. Thanks for the help.
