So I'm up to my eyeballs in finishing my research paper so I can graduate from school in about a week which kinda makes me crazy... to relieve the crazy I've been trying to break up my writing with 'other things'. Well, tonight's 'other thing' was trying out Pär Lindström's new overland mapping style. I sorta threw this together but I think it turned out pretty good for a first attempt with the style. I deliberately didn't put any settlements on the coast near the sea as I imagined it being inhospitably cold for some reason... but the combination of forest and hills on the shattered coast causing enough of a break to allow settlement in near the estuaries.

Some smaller patches of forest around the big forests might make it look better.

Amazing for something that was just "thrown together." I'm all set to explore that cave to the East so, if you could just lay down some roads for me to get there... ;-P

Seriously though, early congrats.

Congratulations on graduating as well!
I added an 'enemy' kingdom to the East and North. They're a dark race that can endure the cold. I also added the requested roads and some watch towers to keep an eye out for the enemy. The barrier island to the north got redone and forests added and a few other places got labels where they didn't have them before.
Wasn't to fond of this style at first.
But the more maps (like this) I see, the better it gets.
