Contours question
On my first map I had a weird things happen and while looking at other example maps, I am not sure how any of you avoided what happened to me. I assume that the contours I see in some maps that are right off the coast lines are contours stacked on top of one another and then faded giving the coastlines a shallow to deep look. I say stacked because if they were just glows, then the fades would mimic the coastline fractal lines exactly which some of the maps I have seen do not.
So in my map, I made the contour for the mountains and faded it. I made the contour for the trees and faded them as well. I accidentally overlapped those contours and where they overlapped, the fade became non existent. It took me a long to to fudge that by adjusting the contour shapes (which the method I used was very difficult). So why did my contours touching mess with my fades?
