Computer

It is time for me to get a new computer and right now my software is on my laptop, but it bogs down like crazy. What would be the best computer set up for me to buy for running the ProFantasy Software and Art/CGI programs.

Thanks

As long as you buy a new computer, I don't think CC3 will be a problem. Since it is a 32-bit program, it can only use a maximum of 2GB of memory anyway, and new computers tends to come with way more than this. I would get at least 8GB though, to allow you to run other programs without issues at the same time as CC3, but again, 8GB is a reasonable standard configuration these days.
A new i5 or i7 (or the AMD equivalent, I don't know those) is also more than powerful enough to feed CC3 the CPU power it will need.
Since CC3 doesn't use hardware accelerated graphics, the graphics adapter doesn't matter at all. Nor does CC3 write a lot of data to disk, so a fast HDD/SSD is not required.

Note that this is based on what CC3 needs, I have no idea what your Art/CGI programs will need.

I am running a Compaq Presario from 2006, bought my graphics card in 2007, CPU is 3.3 Ghz Celeron. Power supply was upgraded from 250 Watts - to a 300 Watt unit. Graphics card is currently running a little hot - but well within critical ranges. Upgraded the HDD from the original 8 GB HDD to a 500 GB SATA HDD. I upgraded the Monitor from an old HP SuperVGA that I was using - to a higher resolution Compaq WF1907 21 inch LCD flat screen. I am using an EPSON STYLUS CX6000 Multifunction printer scanner on it as well. below are the specs:
  • Thanks for the advice. Right now, trying to build my world gaming map on CC3 is getting real slow. I know that I need better hardware.
  • KenGKenG Traveler
I added a solid state drive and feel that improved the overall performance for my system
