Problem with added sheets in CC3
My compliments to all ProFantasy software users! Some of you make extraordinary maps … how inspiring!
I am just about to create my own first map and have come across a problem that seems to be a small one, but I cannot seem to understand what is happening. I have used the contour function to make an underground for a mountain area, but now I do not want to use “edge fade, inner” or “blur and transparency” for the edges, because I favour different percentages of blur and transparency on different sides of a given contour. So I thought I need additional sheets, on which I place an outer contour i.e. only on the right of a contour. These outer contours of a separate sheet I can then make more transparent and so on.
So here is what I did:
I made a contour on sheet CONTOUR (LAND) - Activate sheet effects [named “C(LAND)”] - add transparency - Opacity 90%
Made an outer contour with “select drawing tools” – advanced – properties – sheet: CONT (L)1; “sheets and effects” add a new sheet: CONT (L)1, Activate sheet effects [“CONT (L)1”]: 70%
…, add a new sheet: CONT (L)2, Activate sheet effects [“CONT (L)2”]: 50%
I have put the respective contour on the respective sheet and have realised the transparency (sheet + effect) is correct in each case, but
here is the problem:
I can only see the effects of C(LAND) and C(L)1 or C(L)2 – never all three at one time. I.e. now I cannot see the effects of C(L)2. So I go to “sheets and effects” and click on C(L)2 on the left side, but the correct effects do not show up. So I click on the saved sheet effects “C(L)2” and I am told “Sheets missing in the current drawing: ….. (emptiness) Do you want to add the sheets?” I click “yes” and the correct effects show up. When I then hit okay, I only see the effects of C(LAND) and C(L)2 and the effects of (L)1 are suddenly gone. If I now do the same thing again (go to “sheets and effects”, now click on C(L)1, …) and hit okay, effects of C(L)2 are gone again. And it does not matter whether I click “yes” or “no” when I am asked to add the sheets or not – the same thing happens. So, it obviously is not remembered which effect belongs to which of the two self-made sheets, and the irritating thing is that it did show up correctly – until I did something (I have no idea what) that effected this.
This may seem ridiculous to you and I hope it is not too confusing to go through my explanation, but I really do not get it. Sorry for that. I hope someone understands what I am talking about. I will be thankful for any helpful comment.

These are the two views I get when trying to see the effects of both C(L)1 and C(L)2. C(Land) - on the original sheet "CONTOURS(LAND)" always shos up correctly.
Reading your first post I have the feeling that you save your effects on a file for each sheet, that is
C(LAND) is the name of the effect setting for the CONTOURS(LAND) sheet
C(L)1 is the name of the effect setting for the CONT(L)1 sheet and so on...
Am I right ?
If that's the case, the behaviour you describe is normal as the effect setting saves the chosen effects for ALL the sheets at once.
Try to set all your effects first and save the setting after.
You were completely right, I simply misunderstand what I was actually saving.
I thought it must be something trivial. Thanks a lot!
