I'm looking for some mosaic tile symbols. Kinda like the ones used by the Roman Empire for their floors, or similar style symbols.
Thanks !

I did get several files; all moss, all red, etc. that might work for parts of floor tiles. Not much of a color spread as in the pictures they posted there.
( Sorry, I'm a bit tired today, more than usual.)
1° draw a square (ie 200x200)
2° divide that square in any smaller tiles you'd like
3° offsert each line by a pleasing amount (5 perhaps, on a 200x200 square)
4° trim do intersection and line to path on each tile.
5° each different color on a new drawing sheet
6° if some tiles overlap the square, create a 3x3 array of squares, this ensures the seamless *tiling*
7° sheet effects : bevel, texture and blur on each
8° on a background, effect-free, sheet, fill the square with solid black
9° export as rectangular PNG, only the center square in case of an array. Above was 1025x1025.
10° CC3 usually adds a pixel in width and height so crop the picture to 1024x1024 (I use Photofiltre, free app).
11° I then use the PNG file as a bitmap fill style but you could easily make a symbol out of it as well
Does it help ? Would you like a more elaborate tutorial ?

Thank you.
I was reading a book on 'The Romans, Republic to Empire' and liked the mosaic floor tiles. I doubt I'll get that good, but I would like to add simple mosaics to some of my building maps.
Could you post a pic of a pattern you like ?

While some were square tiles, others, according to the captions, were broken pottery in different colors. The broken pottery was then kept in place by various types of mortar.
I don't really have any pictures. I'll scan one in this weekend and upload it.
