looking for a galaxy making program to use with CC3

Does anyone know of a computer program, perferably free but I can afford a bit, that makes different types of galaxies ?

The program Terraformer_Author mentioned has it disabled for the shareware version and the program isn't available for sale right now.

I just need something I can use to add galaxies to my Crestar star maps.

Hi Jim,

Are you looking for actual galaxy symbols, or are you looking for something that can generate a huge number of stars and star systems? I'm not sure about galaxy symbols, but I've been using a great little program called AstroSynth, by NBOS for my SciFi needs for years. It isn't free but it's only $35 U.S., and it has a fully-functional 14-day free trial. It has a boatload of features, including generating systems and HTML catalogs on the systems. I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for but you may want to give it a look-see.

Not solar systems, but distant galaxies seen in the night sky.

Ones like a giant silver dollar made of stars, a platter of stars. They don't have to be smudges of light.

Okay so, basically, you're looking for symbols? No worries, I thought that might be the case. I'm afraid I don't know any map symbols for such a thing, though I image you could make symbols from PNGs of actual NASA photos, if it comes to it.

You could look through the NASA astronomy picture archive -- there are a lot of galaxies you could choose from, with varying detail:

I go there rather often. I rather like Astronomy Picture of the Day.

But... if at all possible I would to create my own galaxies. To use real ones seems kinda cookie cutter to me.

a large area made with Universe. Nebulae, yellow and blue star clusters, and 3 star fields added.

Could be a galaxy of some sort.

I'm not really into the Si-Fi stuff, but that looks really cool Jim. The birth of a spisal galaxy perhaps?

Could be. I can't quite figure out how to do one in the Universe software that is at an angle, or close to 'on edge' side-view.

Sorry, I'm confused by Blender and Bryce. I could never find a good simple to follow walk through for either of them. I can visualize in three dimensions, but I couldn't get either program to work for me. I've put them on hold until after I retire in a few years.
