What do you mean with fill patterns? If you mean the fillings of the symbols, I think solid is just fine. Bitmaps might lead to performance issues if many on these symbols are used in a map.

Greets Hadrian
No- actual Hadrian I'm talking about the colors of the regular land terrain, water terrain, etc. - like coloring farmland sort of mixed rectangular patches of alternating greens and greenish browns at an isometric perspective to simulate crops, etc.
Posted By: JimPWell, we have fill symbols with evergreen trees.
Do we have fill symbols for cactus or sand dunes ? How about the pockmarked surface of asteroids and moons ? Or comet surfaces ?
Well Jim - the cactus and sand dunes would make sense for standard fantasy overland - but I don't know if moon or asteroid "cratery" type fills woul really fit in thematically with my current set I'm working on.
In this case I think something like the Herwin Wielink farmland would be cool. It would also be nice if there were farmlands which have fields in several different sizes. A fill pattern for Forests and Woods would be nice as well. It would allow one to draw large forests without any performance issues.

Hmmm - That fill style is terrific, but I would probably have to go with something simpler - like the basic land colors on the old "World Of Greyhawk" original boxed game setting from back in the eighties. Like I said before - I'm a big fan the old stuff, and I'm trying to make these symbols look "Sutherlandesque", as it were (The Late, Great David Sutherland III - AD&D TSR Project Illustrator).

Be careful in there folks, there are weeks worth of material like photos and radio message transcripts.
