I always save as to a series of filenames. Save as filename01_001, filename01_002 to help with that. If my map crashes, I can go back to an earleir version. How often should you save as ? Personal choice.
I think this will work to recover your map:
You could open a template like you used to make the map. Hide all layers.
Insert the problem map.
Show one layer at a time, then click on Zoom Extents uppper right, to refresh the map.
Keep going until it crashes. Now you know the layer with the problem.
Start back at the template part, and show the problem layer, edit it. Save as to a new filename.
IIRC CC3 has an autosave somewhere in the main directory (i.e programfiles/profantasy/CC3). Have you tried to look at that ? (assuming that you havent opened any other maps in the meanwhile)
elothan, first thing I did was chk the Autosave map. But when I opened it, the saved map was for the one I had worked on previously. I changed Autosave setting to every 2 minutes now, instead of 5 minutes.
