Looking for advice on archipelago maps
Hi all... This isn't so much a technical question but more a stylistic one...
I'm picturing a campaign setting set in an archipelago much like Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea series. What I'm trying to determine is what sort of map style (preferably one I could swipe from an annual) would work well for representing an archipelago in its entirety.
At her website she has some maps that depict the entire region - http://www.ursulakleguin.com/EarthseaMaps/index.html
What I think I'm looking for is something a little bit abstract. On the larger island larger terrain features are visible while small islands are just their shapes. I'm leaning towards making use of the Sarah Wroot style but I'm curious if anyone has tackled a similar map and/or has any advice along these lines.
