Symbol Sets that fit with the John Roberts Overland Style

So for a long while I was using the standard CC3 overland style for my map-making needs. However, a few months ago I decided to expand the maps I'd made for the current forum game I'm playing/helping to run, and I decided to try out the John Roberts style. Needless to say I fell head over heels for it and have done the other expansions since then in the same style and even started to redo the older maps in the new style. However, there is one slight problem, and that is that the symbol set for it is somewhat limited, most especially when it comes to the man made structures.

I was wondering whether anyone had managed to find any good workarounds for using the other symbol sets that come with CC3 and the annuals so they fit in with the John Roberts style, or else whether anyone has found any free/user made symbol sets that work with it as my cursory google and forum search didn't reveal anything unfortunately.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same observation re: limited symbols for the John Roberts dungeon style.

It's a very unique style that is more akin to watercolors then anything computer generated, as such it is extremely difficult to match the styles. What I ended up doing was using only the environmental symbols then mixing in traditional (custom designed) manmade symbols that set themselves apart from the image. The result is forgivable contrast between nature and manmade.

Avotas, this is a really breathtaking map... the mountains seem to pop right out of the screen! Was this done with the Jon Roberts style only?

I've used the standard CC3 bitmap symbols for Structures (cities, towns, etc) with this style and found them to work quite well actually. I'd not mix the mountain and vegetation symbols though.

Pretty much, and thanks. ^^ There is some very light photoshop work blurrting a hard edge, but that's about it.
