How can I split up a continent.

So, I just started using CC3, and created a large continent for a world map I'm creating. I want to be able to split the continent up into several smaller maps, so that I can create more detailed maps of various regions.

Unfortunately, as the continent is one landmass, I have not been able to get a tool to actually cut out just part of it (and the symbols on it) to export to another map.

Is there any way to do this?

Yes. You'll need to use the cut and/or break command to remove the parts of the landmass you don't want (make a copy first, then modify the copy so you don't mess with your original landmass.)
Once you use these tools, the landmass will be reduced to a poly, so it will appear as a narrow outline instead of a filled entity while you work. Once done, use Path to Poly (right click explode to find this command) on the landmass, and it will return to a filled polygon. If necessary, you may wish to use the various node edit commands to add and remove some nodes to get the proper shape where you cut it.

Make sure you are familiar with the editing chapter in the manual, it tells you everything you need to know about these commands.

Note that landmasses usually have a black outline. This is a separate entity, so make sure you work on the landmass, not the outline. The best way is usually to just delete the black outline, work with the landmass, then use Outline in Black to add an outline when you are done.
