grid lines / white dots

Howdy all,
My "grid lines" are showing up as white dots instead of solid, black grid lines. I know there has to be a way to change it but for the life of me I can't find it. Could someone please point me in the proper direction? Sorry for the newbie question but I'm going bonkers here. :)

Thanks and Regards,

The white dots belong to the snap grid. This is just a drawing aid, and will not be part of your maps on print/export.

To add a "real" grid to your map itself, go to Draw --> Hex or Square Overlay... and set up the desired grid from there.
  • Oh, I see. I was following a tutorial which used the snap to grid feature but I didn't see any white dots on the video, just the normal, solid black lines of a grid, so I had thought the snap-to-grid feature could use a solid black grid instead of the white dots and without there being a "real" grid on my map. Thanks for explaining. :)

No, snap to grid always uses the snap grid. However, when you create a "real" grid, there is an option in the dialog to set the snap grid at the same time. This will automatically set up a snap grid matching the map grid.
Also, you don't need to see the white dots for the snap grid to be active, they are just a visual guide. Use the Grid and Snap buttons in the lower right corner to toggle this individually.
  • beautiful. Thanks a ton Monsen. :)
