Two (I'm sure simple!) questions...

Hi all,

I'm going through the learning curve on FT and CC3 -- and ran into an issue I could use some guidance on...

First -- I was able to take my original campaign map and set it up as a background image to trace over. And, I got all the tracing done. But now, I can't seem to figure out what I need to do to get rid of the original trace image. Can someone guide me?

Second, I'd love to bring a trace file into FT and "build" up the landmass from there. Is this possible?

Thanks in advance, and if you could keep your answers to first grade level in CC, I would really appreciate it! :)

  • To delete an entity in CC3, click on the erase tool, select what you want to erase, right click, and "do it". However, I would recommend simply hiding the background image (on its own layer) instead of deleting it. That way, it is still available if you later discover that you need additional info from that map. You can use the change tool to move an entity to a different layer.

Here are a couple tutorials that may help with FT3:

    Transferring a CC3 Landmass to FT3

    Recreating an Existing Map
  • Deleting it is easy, if you put it on its own layer. And don't put anything else on that layer.

You can hide all and freeze all the other layers. Then delete the one item not frozen/hidden.
  • When I use a PNG bitmap image to trace from, I put it on it's own sheet which I usually name IMAGE and move it so it sits right below (i.e. on top of) the BACKGROUND sheet in the Sheet order list. I used to delete this sheet when I was done with the image, but as mentioned above, I got in the habit of just hiding the IMAGE sheet in case I needed to go back to it again.
