hmm. converting all those small maps into a hemisphere, new direction

I've been working on making hemisphere maps out of 180x234 mil maps. Major pain. For those who don't know, they are the 5mm hexagon maps I made back in the early 1980s.
The major pain I am thinking about doing to short cut all of that work is to run ft3 and create a partial or complete hemisphere. Place all my current nations, cities, etc. onto the new map. I haven't been satisfied with the sizes of the Barbarian area and the two Nations my players first started in. I would like to make them larger.
That would mean all new surface local area maps. Probably keep the towns and cities the same, just update them.
Of course, that would make another major pain of work. Making all new local maps.
I am still undecided, but maybe, just maybe, it will look better and probably be easier to make the smaller maps as all hemispheres and continents will be the same style.
Whew.
Any comments ?
Thanks.

Pleeeaassseeee.
( That was my bestest Roger Rabbit.)
It is an export from FT3 and an artificial world. So, Square.
edit: the map is 25000 miles by about 8000 miles.
I prefer to give detail at local level maps over detail at continent map level.
I won't be doing too much modifying to the area south of Trillolara. The island od pirates is going away, Dwarf Home is movnig, etc. The Inner Ocean is now a large passage between the main continent and some islands.
Down and to the right of the Mountains of Death is going to be a large desert.
Likely adding in smaller islands in the detail region maps. Since some of the island chains on the old southern hempisphere take up on 600x750 pixel map, I'll likely move them around a bit. Not sure where just yet.
If you think a particular old island group would look better in a particular place on this new map, just let me know. I may not do it, I'm kinda looking for ideas/suggestions.
Thanks.
larger version 1200x659 pixels.
The Stopper, an island, is at fractalize 50. The rest are 20 or 30.
Most of what you see was drawn using the regular polygon tool. Splash Lake was done with the smooth polygon tool, then fractalized.
I rarely fractalize more than 3-4 times per island/continent. I don't want to have to draw detail until I get down to the village level.
A larger version here
I did try to fractalize, and the upper map edge of the green bitmap fill moved out from the map border. The land water edge didn't change much, so I took that fractalize out.
Is there a better bitmap fill to use for scrubland ? Or does the one i'm using look okay ?
Thanks.
I could use some ideas on where to put rivers on the new map. One should lead off to the lower left to the Trillolaran capital.
The white buildings are ruins. Quasqueton, Khilla Keep, Sraa Keep, a small un-named village in an area called The Wild.
Dtranyo Castle was a ruin, but was remodeled and taken over by a group of adventurers who cleaned it out of monsters.
I didn't know if the light green scrub/plateau is higher or lower than the surrounding darker green so I guessed higher... your coast line suggests two natural river terminus (termini?). One near Braydont Castle and one near Sallor. I did a screen grab of your map and doodled in a few rivers in MS Paint. Hope they inspire
Keep Calm
and
Map On
On tghe original map of the area near Braydont, there is a small stream and a marsh. So I may take the river closer and puty it in at the right hand barrier hill, instead of the one you marked.
I do like the other river though.
Thanks.
