CD3 very slow
Hi there,
I´m pretty new to CC3 and CD3 and followed the city tutorials by Gandwarf. Everything works out fine but it is so slow that it´s no fun to work with. Turning of effects is mandatory but even without them zooming in and out is like watching single frames every second. Why isn´t it smooth? Everything is defraged, files and program are on an ssd, graphiccard is up to date. The display speed settings make no difference, high res, low res speed does not change. I´m running Win 7 64Bit.
Hope you can help me ( or tell me it´s absolutley normal... ),

City maps are definitively the slowest maps you can have in CC3. This is because the houses consists of quite a number of entities, which needs to be redrawn when you scroll or zoom, and this especially affects larger cities.
One way to speed up city drawing times are to hide some of the STRUCTURES (_____) layers, especially STRUCTURES (SHADING). Note that by hiding these layers, the houses will look simpler, because you hide some of their details, but redraws should speed up. Just remember to turn them back on when printing/exporting your map, but having them off during drawing helps.
1. Set the automatic bitmap quality to low, or set it fixed and very low, for the fastest way to display bitmap textures.
2. Disable shading. This will shut off CD§'s automatic shading of the roof faces.
3. Disable aligned fill styles. CD3 rotates fill styles, so roof fills align correctly to the house direction. This is a rather slow process - disable to significantly speed up map display.
4. Draw aligned fill style as solid. This will have the greatest effect on display speed,a s all aligned bitmap fills (and there are typically tons of these in a city map), will simply be shown as solid. This will probably look ugly, but make the map display very fast.
Note that you can always work with these time-savers turned on, and disable them once you're satisfied with the layout.
