Ground texture question

I have been trying to do a fantasy map with DD3. I would like to know how can I get ground textures like the ones you see on www.profantasy.com, on the scroll down menu to see the maps. The miniature battle map.

Thanks :)

That is the "Dirt and Grass Light Bitmap". This is a standard fill style, and should be available in the regular DD3 templates. This bitmap is actually installed along with CC3 itself, in #Bitmaps\Tiles\Dungeon\CC3\Dirt and Grass Light_VL.PNG, so you don't even need DD3 to have it accessible.
Do note that a battle map is pretty far zoomed in, which can make the fill style appear pretty different from viewing it on a zoomed out 1000x800 dungeon for example.

The map itself is from the September 2008 Annual, but as stated, the background fill style is available even without this.
  • Ok. This is probably a real newbie question but it seems that for me to have the .bmp in an acceptable resolution I need to create maps less than 200x100. Am I doing something wrong ?

    Thanks for you reply/help.
  • Nevermind, I have figured it out. The more I zoom out on a large map the less beautiful are the .bmp.
  • In the same vein, is there a way to change all of the bitmap fills to use something other than the VL versions of the fills? I'm finding that the VH version produces a much nicer map at the scale I will use it on MapTools than the VL fills. Manually changing them all each time I want to make a new map will be a pain.

CC3 uses the correct one automatically. Even if the fill is linked to the VL file, CC3 will pick an appropriate one from the VL, L, H and VH versions, depending on your zoom level.
To force CC3 to use a specific resolution, Click Display Speed settings image and set an appropriate resolution.

This is what you have templates for. If you ever need to make a change that should appear in all new maps, change the template instead, either by modifying the original, or by creating your own copy of it and modifying that.
