Symbols missing

I have created a symbol catalog and most of the symbols in it work just fine. However, a few of them fail to show up in the symbols window on the left side of the main screen, and I am unable to place them on my map. The boxes on the left show the location where they *should* appear, with their proper labels, but the box itself is blank. When I bring up the symbol manager the symbols show up fine. When I click on the symbol and attempt to add it to the map, no outline of the symbol appears, and nothing happens when I attempt to place it.

I'm running CC3 v3.42 on Windows XP SP3.

Any help anyone can give me is appreciated!

Well, you probably are having some problems with the dimensions or how they are pasted in the map. I have worked quite long with a setup similar to yours but have not experienced any problem with it. I suggest that you take a look at how the symbols are supposed to line on your maps and further observe how change are going to take effect.

Darkwing, are these bitmap symbols or vector ones? Make sure the symbol parts are not on any layers that are currently hidden.

They are vector symbols. It looks like that might have fixed the problem--it looks like the layer they were on in the symbol catalog file was hidden.

And for vector symbols, if the 'symbol definition' layer is hidden, the symbols wont show.

If you type CS (for Correct Symbols) at the command line, all symbol parts in your drawing will be moved to the layer SYMBOL DEFINITION - where they should normal be. Note that there might be symbols where you don't want this to be the case.

Ah, neat. That will save me a bunch of work on some of my early maps.
