Graphics styles in Source Maps etc.

I was just looking at some of the source maps (source maps: castles! for one) and the graphic style doesn't look that great. Now I know that for practicality, that doesn't matter much, but I prefer to make things look pretty, like in CC3. So my question is, is the source maps: Castles! combined with CC3 capable of making some cool-looking castles, or do they all look like the handful of screenshots shown in the examples? While I'm at it, I'll ask the same about Perspectives Pro and source maps: cities as well, the screenshots don't look that great, but the concept is awesome, is it not capable of making better-looking set-ups? I hope my question makes sense...

The entire source maps series uses vector symbols and fills, and so do the tools that comes with these products. So without manually editing the tools (And perhaps digging up some additional bitmap fills and symbols), your maps will have the same style as the ones show in the examples.

CC3 brings one possible addition to these maps though, effects. These maps were made for CC2, which didn't have effects. By applying appropriate effects, you can enhance the maps considerably.
SM:Cities were made for CC3, so that one already uses effects in the maps. It still uses vector artwork however.

Basically the same goes for Perspective, although there is a new version of this product on the way in 2012: Blog Post

I believe Simon or Ralf mentioned something about new CC3 style source maps products in the future too.
  • Awesome! Thank you for your help, I'll just wait for the advanced versions of them then.
