Erase Layer contents

Sorry one other quick question. Is there a way to delete the contents of the currently selected layer? i.e. wipe out everything on the layer, while keeping the layer in the template.

No command to delete the content of the currently selected layer (as I am aware of anyway), but it is easy to delete all the entities on any given layer. Here are two methods.

    1) In the layer dialog, hide all layers except the one that contains stuff to delete. Then click the erase button, followed by hitting the "a" key (will select everything), followed by "d" (for do it). Then go back in the layer dialog and show all the layers again.

    2) Click the erase button, then hit "l" on the keyboard (for selection by layer), then either type in the layer name on the command prompt, or right click to get up the list of layers, then select the one you want. This will select all the entities on that layer. Then finally hit "d" to execute the command.

Note that a layer will stay in the drawing even if empty (as opposed to sheets, which are not saved with the drawing if empty)
